Hello! Welcome to Dontmissmyplate.

Thank you for visiting my website! I'm Maxine, a food blogger, home cook, travel enthusiast, and lover of food and culture. I’m passionate about fusion cuisine, a style of cooking that blends ingredients and techniques from different countries, regions, and traditions.

My approach is influenced by both Southern African and American cooking, shaped by my life experiences and reflected in the diversity of my recipes. I also focus on farm-to-table cooking, using fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced locally whenever possible. I believe food tastes best when it’s in season and close to its origin.

Travel plays a big role in how I cook and create. I love sharing my food adventures, from what I’ve eaten to where to eat, while discovering new flavors, cultures, and techniques that continue to inspire me.

I hope this space feels helpful and inspiring. Whether you're in the mood for something familiar or ready to try something new, you’ll find plenty to explore here. Happy cooking!

A Mexican restaurant nestled in the suburbs of Frederick. First off I would like to congratulate whoever worked on the interior design. I rarely ever notice artwork when I go out to eat unless it really stands out. The paintings, pottery and sculptures are gorgeous. A winning dish? Don’t leave without trying the fish tacos, they are gigantic!

When it’s time to order drinks, hats off to the margaritas, they are well laced and are served jumbo size so you shouldn’t be disappointed unless the bartenders switch it up. Not a generic mix that has little to know alcohol which is perfect. I would note that the complimentary dip served with the chips was flavorful and thick the first time, but the second time a bit watered down.

I’ll be checking this spot out a few more times, so this review will be updated.

For appetizer, the nachos with ground beef cheese and sour cream. I wasn't a huge fan not sure if it was the cheese or the beef (think I prefer actual steak nachos) but they were okay and presented nicely. I

The fish tacos are excellent. Served with lettuce and Pico de gallo the grilled tilapia fillets are HUGE I couldn't believe it. Along with the sauce they made for really succulent delicious tacos and I'll be going back just got that.
