Meet Dontmissmyplate

Hi there, I'm Maxine, the face behind Dontmissmyplate. Originally from Zimbabwe (born and raised), I've lived in the United States for a little over a decade. This has inevitably impacted my perspective and how I approach food, as well as embracing various dishes and cooking techniques from around the world. The kitchen is both a science lab and an artist's studio, where I work hard to produce easy-to-make, delicious recipes for you! However, none should be intimidating, and you can always improvise on ingredients and kitchen appliances. Cooking is ultimately a continuous learning journey that should be exciting for those fortunate to embark on it.

Since 2017, I've actively committed to the food service and media industries, from personal chef opportunities to working commercial kitchens, securing influencer marketing contracts for food products and meals, and blogging - where I got my start.

The United States is one of the best places for food enthusiasts, home cooks, and chefs because you are exposed to many cuisines of the highest quality. I regularly visit new and old restaurants, which has expanded my knowledge and passion reflected in many recipes.

Dontmissmplate is a one-stop-shop for those who are passionate about food as well as maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It's about making some tasty plates in your home while supporting local businesses. It's about embracing and learning about cultures different through your food.

Where did the name ‘dontmissmyplate’ come from?

A double meaning is one that requests a plate not be deprived of good food. The other alludes to viewing a plate or dish too good to go unseen. Whether that's your plate, my plate, or someone else's, that's up to you!
